Kuching, Sarawak

Boasting a population of just over 600,000 people, the capital city of Sarawak is lauded for its relaxed pace and potpourri of ethnicities.

The word 'kuching' means cat in Malay; a rather befitting name for this East Malaysian town, given the characteristically lazy feline nature of life Kuching is known for. Many of its historic buildings escaped damage during WWII, and have been renovated and beautified. Combined with the lively eating and drinking scene, it's little wonder Kuching is the pride of Sarawak.
